Can also transport other glucosides such as maltose, arbutin (hydroquinone-beta-D-glucoside), salicin (2-(hydroxymethyl)phenyl-beta-D-glucoside), alpha-phenylglucoside, beta-phenylglucoside, alpha-paranitrophenylglucoside, beta-paranitrophenylglucoside, and paranitrophenyl-beta-thioglucoside. May also transport biotin. Required for apoplastic phloem sucrose loading in source tissues (e.g. leaves) in order to transport it to sink tissues (e.g. roots, flowers).
