Description
L-ornithine N(5)-monooxygenase; part of the gene cluster that mediates the biosynthesis of hydroxamate-containing siderophores that play a critical role in virulence via intracellular iron acquisition during macrophage infection (PubMed:18404210, PubMed:21341981). SID1 catalyzes the conversion of L-ornithine to N(5)-hydroxyornithine, the first step in the biosynthesis of all hydroxamate-containing siderophores (PubMed:18404210).
Family
Belongs to the lysine N(6)-hydroxylase/L-ornithine N(5)-oxygenase family.
Species
Ajellomyces capsulatus
