The mitoribosomes are attached to the mitochondrial inner membrane and translation products are cotranslationally integrated into the membrane (PubMed:25609543, PubMed:28154081). uS17m may have a meiosis-specific role as it accumulates during the middle stage of sporulation (PubMed:15543521).
