npgA

Gene
npgA
Protein
4'-phosphopantetheinyl transferase NpgA
Organism
Emericella nidulans (strain FGSC A4 / ATCC 38163 / CBS 112.46 / NRRL 194 / M139)
Length
344 amino acids
Function
Transfers the 4'-phosphopantetheine moiety from coenzyme A to a Ser of an acyl-carrier-protein. The enzyme is able to transfer the cofactor to a broad range of enzymes with acyl- or peptidyl-carrier protein domains. Required for primary biological processes such as growth and asexual/sexual development, and activates target enzymes involved in the synthesis of metabolites such as fatty acids, polyketides and nonribosomal peptides, lysine, sideropore, penicillin, sterigmatocystin, shamixantone, dehydroaustinol, and pigments.
Similarity
Belongs to the P-Pant transferase superfamily.
Mass
37.711 kDa
