mltF

Gene
mltF
Protein
Membrane-bound lytic murein transglycosylase F
Organism
Vibrio campbellii (strain ATCC BAA-1116 / BB120)
Length
534 amino acids
Function
Murein-degrading enzyme that degrades murein glycan strands and insoluble, high-molecular weight murein sacculi, with the concomitant formation of a 1,6-anhydromuramoyl product. Lytic transglycosylases (LTs) play an integral role in the metabolism of the peptidoglycan (PG) sacculus. Their lytic action creates space within the PG sacculus to allow for its expansion as well as for the insertion of various structures such as secretion systems and flagella.
Similarity
In the C-terminal section; belongs to the transglycosylase Slt family.
Mass
60.517 kDa

Protein
Membrane-bound lytic murein transglycosylase F
Organism
Escherichia coli O139:H28 (strain E24377A / ETEC)
Length
518 amino acids
Aeromonas hydrophila subsp. hydrophila (strain ATCC 7966 / DSM 30187 / JCM 1027 / KCTC 2358 / NCIMB 9240)
Length
496 amino acids

Organism
Pseudomonas putida (strain ATCC 700007 / DSM 6899 / BCRC 17059 / F1)
Length
485 amino acids
Membrane-bound lytic murein transglycosylase F
Organism
Histophilus somni (strain 2336)
Length
479 amino acids
Mass

Gene
mltF
Protein
Membrane-bound lytic murein transglycosylase F
Organism
Salmonella typhi
Length
475 amino acids
