ivoB

Gene
ivoB
Protein
N-acetyl-6-hydroxytryptophan oxidase ivoB
Organism
Emericella nidulans (strain FGSC A4 / ATCC 38163 / CBS 112.46 / NRRL 194 / M139)
Length
366 amino acids
Function
N-acetyl-6-hydroxytryptophan oxidase; part of the pathway that mediates the biosynthesis of the gray-brown conidiophore pigment (PubMed:28108400). The tryptophan N-acetyltransferase ivoA first produces N-acetyltryptophan which is then 6-hydroxylated into N-acetyl-6-hydroxytryptophan (AHT) by the cytochrome P450 monooxygenase ivoC (PubMed:28108400). N-acetyl-6-hydroxytryptophan is substrate of the N-acetyl-6-hydroxytryptophan oxidase ivoB to produce the gray-brown conidiophore pigment (Ref.4, PubMed:2126551, PubMed:28108400). IvoB is also able to oxidize hydroquinone monomethyl ether (HME) and p-cresol, but not tyrosine, 3,4-dihydroxyphenylalanine or o-methoxyphenol (PubMed:2126551).
Similarity
Belongs to the tyrosinase family.
Mass
40.299 kDa
