Part of the osmoregulatory pathway which leads to the increase of intracellular cAMP concentration in response to hyperosmotic stress. Thought to negatively regulate the rdeA-regA pathway by acting as a phosphatase towards the HPt protein rdeA. Has probably no histidine kinase activity.
