dma1

Gene
DMA1
Protein
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase DMA1
Organism
Saccharomyces cerevisiae (strain ATCC 204508 / S288c)
Length
416 amino acids
Function
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which functions in cell cycle retarding in conjonction with the UBC4 and UBC13/MMS2 complex, 2 E2 ubiquitin conjugationg enzymes (PubMed:18202552). Involved in nutritional control of the cell cycle (PubMed:15319434). Targets the G1 cyclin PCL1 for destruction (PubMed:23264631). Required for proper spindle positioning, likely regulating septin ring deposition at the bud neck (PubMed:15146058).
Similarity
Belongs to the DMA1 family.
Mass
46.098 kDa

Gene
dma1
Protein
Probable E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase dma1
Organism
Schizosaccharomyces pombe (strain 972 / ATCC 24843)
Length
267 amino acids
Function
Probable E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase which is a component of the spindle assembly checkpoint, required to prevent septum formation and premature exit from mitosis if spindle function is compromised. Inhibits the septation initiation netwok (SIN) during spindle checkpoint activation. The effect appears to be mediated through preventing the SIN activator, plo1 kinase, from localizing to the SPB.
Similarity
Belongs to the DMA1 family.
Mass
30.597 kDa
