Protein
Haloalkane dehalogenase
Organism
Mycobacterium sp. (strain GP1)
Length
307 amino acids
Function
Catalyzes hydrolytic cleavage of carbon-halogen bonds in halogenated aliphatic compounds, leading to the formation of the corresponding primary alcohols, halide ions and protons. Has a broad substrate specificity, which includes mono- and di-chlorinated and brominated alkanes. The highest activity was found with 1,2-dibromoethane, whereas low activity was measured with the analog 1,2-dichloroethane.
Similarity
Belongs to the haloalkane dehalogenase family. Type 2 subfamily.
Mass
34.726 kDa
