Protein
Ubiquitin-like-conjugating enzyme ATG10
Organism
Gibberella zeae (strain PH-1 / ATCC MYA-4620 / FGSC 9075 / NRRL 31084)
Function
E2-like enzyme required for the cytoplasm to vacuole transport (Cvt), autophagy and nucleophagy (By similarity). Acts as an E2-like enzyme that catalyzes the conjugation of ATG12 to ATG5 (By similarity). ATG12 conjugation to ATG5 is required for proper localization of ATG8 to the preautophagosomal structure (PAS) (By similarity). Likely serves as an ATG5-recognition molecule (By similarity). Autophagy is required for proper vegetative growth, asexual/sexual reproduction, and full virulence (PubMed:28894236). Autophagy is particularly involved in the biosynthesis of deoxynivalenol (DON), an important virulence determinant (PubMed:28894236).
Similarity
Belongs to the ATG10 family.
