Secondary mitochondrial glycine transporter required for the biosynthesis of heme at high glycine concentrations. Imports the precursor glycine into the mitochondrial matrix, where it is condensed with succinyl-CoA to produce 5-aminolevulinate (ALA), the first step of heme biosynthesis.
