Protein
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase SINAT5
Organism
Arabidopsis thaliana
Function
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that mediates ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of target proteins. E3 ubiquitin ligases accept ubiquitin from an E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme in the form of a thioester and then directly transfers the ubiquitin to targeted substrates (Probable). Mediates the ubiquitin-mediated degradation of NAC021/NAC022, a transcription activator that functions downstream of the auxin signals, thereby acting as a down-regulator of auxin signals. Involved in the formation of lateral roots (PubMed:12226665).
Similarity
Belongs to the SINA (Seven in absentia) family.
