PDH2

Gene
pdh2
Protein
Pyranose dehydrogenase 2
Organism
Leucoagaricus meleagris
Length
600 amino acids
Function
Catalyzes the single-oxidation or sequential double oxidation reaction of carbohydrates primarily at carbon-2 and/or carbon-3 with the concomitant reduction of the flavin. The enzyme exhibits a broad sugar substrate specificity, oxidizing different aldopyranoses to the corresponding C-1, C-2, C-3 or C-1,2, C-2,3 and C-3,4 (di)dehydro sugars with substrate-specific regioselectivity. Accepts only a narrow range of electron acceptors such as substituted benzoquinones and complexed metal ions and reacts extremely slowly with O(2) as acceptor. May play a role in the natural recycling of plant matter by oxidizing all major monosaccharides in lignocellulose and by reducing quinone compounds or reactive radical species generated during lignin depolymerization (By similarity).
Similarity
Belongs to the GMC oxidoreductase family.

Gene
PDH2
Protein
Pyruvate dehydrogenase E1 component subunit beta-1, mitochondrial
Organism
Arabidopsis thaliana
Length
363 amino acids
Function
The pyruvate dehydrogenase complex catalyzes the overall conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-CoA and CO(2). It contains multiple copies of three enzymatic components: pyruvate dehydrogenase (E1), dihydrolipoamide acetyltransferase (E2) and lipoamide dehydrogenase (E3).

Protein
Pigment-dispersing hormone type 2
Organism
Penaeus vannamei
Length
80 amino acids
Function
The pigment-dispersing hormone causes the migration of the distal retinal pigment into the proximal end of the pigment chromatophore cells and thus decreases the amount of light entering the retinulas. May also function as a neurotransmitter and/or neuromodulator (By similarity).
Similarity
Belongs to the arthropod PDH family.
Mass
