Protein
Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase 2, cytoplasmic
Organism
Rattus norvegicus
Function
Has a marked selectivity for phospholipids with short acyl chains at the sn-2 position. May share a common physiologic function with the plasma-type enzyme. Catalyzes transacetylation of the acetyl group from platelet-activating factor (PAF) to lysoplasmalogen and to sphingosine, producing plasmalogen analogs of PAF and N-acetylsphingosine (C2-ceramide) respectively. Acts as a PAF-acetylhydrolase in the absence of lipid acceptor molecules.
Similarity
Belongs to the serine esterase family.
