Protein
Probable triacylglyceride transporter ML0556
Organism
Mycobacterium leprae (strain TN)
Function
In association with lipoprotein LprG probably transports triacylglycerides (TAG) across the inner cell membrane into the periplasm; TAG probably regulates lipid metabolism and growth regulation. May be an efflux transporter and involved in maintaining correct cell wall permeability. Probably required with LprG for normal surface localization of lipoarabinomannan (LAM).
Similarity
Belongs to the major facilitator superfamily.
