Function
GPI-anchored cell wall protein involved in cell wall organization, hyphal growth, as well as in host-fungal interaction and virulence. Plays a role in adherence to plastic and to host epithelial cells. Promotes the tissue fungal burden during murine vaginal candidiasis. Increases also susceptibility to neutrophil-mediated killing. Furthermore, contributes to the severity of hematogenously disseminated candidiasis in normal mice, but not in neutropenic mice.
