Function
Participates in either intracellular transport of viral proteins or intercellular spread of the virus. Cellular profilins modulate actin filament dynamics (polymerization and depolymerization) via direct binding to actin through an actin-binding domain as well as by modulation of other actin-binding proteins. In contrast to cellular homologs, the poxvirus profilins seem to bind actin only weakly.
