Protein
G2/mitotic-specific cyclin cdc13
Organism
Schizosaccharomyces pombe (strain 972 / ATCC 24843)
Function
Essential for the control of the cell cycle at the G2/M (mitosis) transition. Interacts with the cdc2 protein kinase to form MPF. G2/M cyclins accumulate steadily during G2 and are abruptly destroyed at mitosis. Involved in the reorganization of the cytoskeleton on transition from G2 to mitosis. Association with rum1 promotes its proteolysis during G1.
Similarity
Belongs to the cyclin family. Cyclin AB subfamily.
