MsrPQ is essential for the maintenance of envelope integrity under bleach stress, rescuing a wide series of structurally unrelated periplasmic proteins from methionine oxidation. MsrQ provides electrons for reduction to the reductase catalytic subunit MsrP, using the quinone pool of the respiratory chain.
