Organism
Lactococcus lactis subsp. cremoris (strain MG1363)
Function
Catalyzes the ATP-dependent amination of UTP to CTP with either L-glutamine or ammonia as the source of nitrogen. Is essential for the synthesis of CTP de novo. Contrary to other bacterial CTP synthases, the lactococcal enzyme is also able to convert dUTP to dCTP, but this reaction may not play a significant physiological role (PubMed:11500486). Regulates intracellular CTP levels through interactions with the four ribonucleotide triphosphates (By similarity).
Similarity
Belongs to the CTP synthase family.
