nrdF1

Gene
nrdF1
Protein
Ribonucleoside-diphosphate reductase subunit beta nrdF1
Organism
Mycobacterium tuberculosis (strain ATCC 25618 / H37Rv)
Length
322 amino acids
Function
Provides the precursors necessary for DNA synthesis. Catalyzes the biosynthesis of deoxyribonucleotides from the corresponding ribonucleotides (By similarity). Two genes for this protein are present in M.tuberculosis; this is thought to not be the active form. When coexpressed in E.coli with nrdE the 2 proteins do not complement a temperature-sensitive E.coli mutant, whereas the other gene (nrdF2) does complement.
Similarity
Belongs to the ribonucleoside diphosphate reductase small chain family.
Mass
36.59 kDa
