Protein
V-type proton ATPase subunit B
Organism
Candida albicans (strain SC5314 / ATCC MYA-2876)
Function
Non-catalytic subunit of the peripheral V1 complex of vacuolar ATPase. V-ATPase is responsible for acidifying a variety of intracellular compartments in eukaryotic cells. It is an electrogenic proton pump that generates a proton motive force, inside positive and acidic, in the vacuolar membrane vesicles (By similarity). Plays an important role in resistance to several stresses, as well as in autophagy and virulence.
Similarity
Belongs to the ATPase alpha/beta chains family.
