Participates in the inhibition of the host immune response. Prevents host NK cell-mediated lysis of the infected cell by preventing the KLRK1 ligand 3/ULBP3 trafficking to the cell surface. Retains also another KLRK1 ligand, MHC class I-related chain A/MICA, in the Golgi apparatus to avoid its surface expression.
