PA2 catalyzes the calcium-dependent hydrolysis of the 2-acyl groups in 3-sn-phosphoglycerides. Releases lysophospholipids (LPLs) and free fatty acids (FFAs) from membrane phospholipids in response to hormones and other external stimuli. Modulates the trafficking of PIN proteins to the plasma membrane (PubMed:16140037, PubMed:20525850). Negatively regulates MYB30 transcriptional activity and hypersensitive response control (PubMed:20696912).
