Protein
Suppressor of silencing P0
Organism
Potato leafroll virus (strain Potato/Netherlands/Wageningen/1989)
Function
Suppressor of RNA-mediated gene silencing, also known as post-transcriptional gene silencing (PTGS), a mechanism of plant viral defense that limits the accumulation of viral RNAs. The P0 protein suppresses local PTGS using its F-box-like domain to mediate destabilization and degradation of the AGO1 protein (By similarity).
Similarity
Belongs to the polerovirus P0 protein family.
