Cel61a

Gene
cel61a
Protein
Endoglucanase-4
Organism
Hypocrea jecorina
Length
344 amino acids
Function
Has endoglucanase activity on substrates containing beta-1,4 glycosidic bonds, like in carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC) and beta-glucan. May be involved in the degradation of complex natural cellulosic substrates.
Similarity
Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 61 family.
Mass
35.511 kDa

Gene
Cel61a
Protein
Polysaccharide monooxygenase Cel61a
Organism
Myceliophthora thermophila (strain ATCC 42464 / BCRC 31852 / DSM 1799)
Length
342 amino acids
Function
Enzyme involved in the degradation of lignocellulosic biomass. Hydrolyzes weakly barley beta-glucan, carboxymethyl cellulose, lichenan, wheat arabinoxylan and birchwood xylan. Stimulates the hydrolysis of lignocellulosic substrates (such as hydrothermal pretreated wheat straw or steam-pretreated spruce), when combined with other cellulolytic enzymes. Lignin is a significant source of reductant residues that probably stimulate GH-61 activity by acting as electron donors.
Similarity
Belongs to the glycosyl hydrolase 61 family.
Mass
34.936 kDa
