Function
Valencene oxidase, which preferentially hydroylates the C2 position of (+)-valencene in the trans-orientation, producing trans-nootkatol that can be further oxidized to (+)-nootkatone. Can also catalyze the three-step conversion of germacrene A to germacra-1(10),4,11(13)-trien-12-oic acid and the partial conversion of the non-natural substrate amorpha-4,11-diene into artemisinic alcohol and artemisinic aldehyde.
